This week Year 2 have been very busy! For our STEM project we have looked at different stockings, designed our own stocking and then created our own designs using CAD. We used our new hot press to iron on a Christmas template using vinyl. We also challenged ourselves to sewing, which we found tricky.

Year 2 are loving Hebburn Helps Christmas Jumper Day! 🎅🏽🎄💫
This morning Y2 loved making their Christingles for the service on Thursday as part of their worship challenge.
Year 2 LOVED their danceathon and the copper trail!
Year 2 looking amazing in their pyjamas and spots today for Children In Need.
During worship this morning Year 2 discussed the importance of being different and how our words can have an impact on other people’s feelings. We thought about this week’s theme and wrote kind words about each other on a post-it note anonymously and then gave them to each other. We had a lovely morning and will be keep our post-it notes in our toolkits to remind us how amazing we are!
Year 2 enjoyed using a mixture of media to create their poppies this week. We used our poppies to create a wreath. Some of us then hung them on the fence ready for Remembrance Day.
In Science Y2 have been learning about the importance of food and a healthy diet. We linked this to our DT curriculum. Children had to choose their own fillings and bread to make a sandwich, thinking about healthy choices. Children showed off their cutting, chopping and peeling skills. Hopefully they tasted delicious!

Year 2 have been very busy today learning all about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We started off the day by learning all about the festival of light and the story of Rama and Sita. We retold the story, some children used puppets and uploaded their videos onto Seesaw. We identified the significance of the light and how it represented good over evil. Next, we completed a comprehension about the festival and how different parts of India celebrate it differently. After that, we created our own Diwali lamps. We linked this to our instructional writing in English and finished off our day by writing our own set of instructions.
