This week in Spanish year 3 have been learning to listen to and follow simple classroom instructions. Year 3 are loving our Spanish lessons with Mr Mathias.

Today, year three have made our Christmas cards and calendars which are coming home today! We had so much fun creating our wreaths using cotton wool and green paint. We then created our seasonal calendar using coloured strips to represent the 4 seasons. We had a wonderful festive morning.
Year 3 had a fantastic time at The Word creating our STEM baubles which we will be selling at the Christmas fayre this Friday. We also programmed lego by following an algorithm so we could make them rotate. We then played on chatterkids to make charactors talk by using voice recording. We has such a fun filled day!
Look what Snowy the Elf did in Year Three’s classroom this week! She decorated our tree, changed the clock to home time, put photos of herself all around our class and hid in Steve’s rib cage. We have loved finding her every day. I wonder what she gets up to next week!
In art today year 3 evaluated our prehistoric pots that we made at Segedunum. We walked around to see what we liked about each other pots and what they could of done to improve them. We then self assessed our own work in our books and what we have learnt during this process.
In science year 3 investigated if the tallest person was the fastest. We all had a chance to run and record our timings down. We then looked at our predictions from last week to see if we were correct.
In PE year 3 have been creating a dance using our Stone Age topic. We used moves such as hunting, fishing, fire, carving weapons, Stone Henge and building. We used the knowledge that we have learnt in our lessons to help us retell a story of what the Stone Age looked like.
This week, Year 3 spent their Forest School afternoon looking at our carbon footprint as part of their Geography topic ‘One Planet, Our World’.
We discussed what a carbon footprint meant, and we completed a task sorting out what would increase our carbon footprint, and what would decrease it. We then created our own posters to promote all of the things we could do to decrease the amount of energy we use every day at home and in school. Well done Year 3!
Year 3 had a fantastic full day of learning at Segedunum. First me learnt about the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods on a time line. We then weaved sticks to create a pattern just like the Stone Age people did to help them create their houses. We then got into groups and made our own tribe and made up our own tribe name and using face paint we created our own tribe logo.
We then created prehistoric pots using clay and designing them with different patterns.
We had such great jammed packed day!
