Well done year 3!

This week our worship theme is My Voice Matters, Mrs Whittle joined us for worship today to show us an experiment using apples and how we can use our words in a positive and negative manner. Mrs Whittle cut up the apples to show us that although the outside of the apples looked the same, the inside of one was bruised from the negative words we used. We then completed our own mind maps to show how we can use our voice appropriately and for good 🎤🤍
Year 3 have been continuing our RE learning of religious festivals. Last week, we focused on the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children have created fact files to showcase their knowledge and also created their own Diya lamps using salt dough with Mrs Chamberlain 🪔We are absolutely loving this practical RE unit.
Year 3 have been continuing with our science learning of Forces and Magnets. This week, we have been experimenting with magnets and finding items in the classroom that have a magnetic force. We have been learning all about how magnets have a North and South Pole and how they attract and repel each other. Year 3 are loving this science unit! 🧲

This afternoon year 3 have been continuing with our science learning of Forces and Magnets. We have been using force meters to measure everyday tasks and record in Newtons. We have then carried out an experiment where we have tested our shoes against 5 different surfaces to test the frictional force.
What a fantastic afternoon year 3 have had for our forest school with Mrs O’Doherty, yesterday.
We have continued our RE unit of religious festivals and focused on the Jewish Festival of Tu Bishvat. This is a celebration of the tree and how they give back to nature by planting seeds.
During this celebration Jewish people are encouraged to eat fruits from Israel and try something new. Year 3 have planted their own seeds, tried a range of fruits and created our own Tu Bishvat art using natural materials.
Well done superstars 🎨🌳⭐
In science year 3 enjoyed a practical experiment where we tested various balls and toys to measure the frictional force against smooth and rough surfaces.
Year 3 had a fun filled morning taking part in Temple Park’s multi sports festival. We did lots of sporty activities and we had such a great time!
Year 3 performed their shape poems about volcanoes. We tried using different tone of voices, expressions and some of us used actions linked to volcanos. Mrs Chalder and Mrs Chamberlain were very impressed as this is a tricky skill! 🌋
