Today reception have been learning about Alma Thomas, a famous black artist to celebrate Black History Month. 
Reception have had a fabulous morning in forest school! We looked at the story Iggy Peck Architect, and how we could be architects! We looked at what materials we could find, and worked in teams to plan and design our own den. We then went off and put our ideas into practice and built our dens in the nature garden. Great team work reception!
Today for our worship challenge, reception were tasked with connecting with nature. We spent time in the nature garden and with the ‘Tree of Life’. We reflected on how we feel when we’re outdoors, what we like to do outside and described what the tree of life is like. 
Yesterday afternoon, as part of our Let’s Explore learning, we have discussed journeys we have been on. We talked about holidays or places we’ve visited, describing locations, how we travelled there and comparing to our homes. ✈️
What a fantastic day reception have had celebrating World Poetry Day! Our focus was The Grand Old Duke of York, we practised and performed this beautifully with clear voices and matching actions. Our independent learning was full with activities linked to The Grand Old Duke of York. We also loved having poetry and pancakes with our parents and friends. 
Reception have been showing off their aiming, throwing and rolling skills in PE today.
We had to roll the ball and throw the beanbag to different targets.
Reception LOVED their first ever church service! We sang our hearts out and loved seeing our family join us as part of the service. Roll on our Christmas service next & the nativity!
Reception have had a fabulous day for our first ever trip! We identified so many local features on our walk and understood why we need them in our local area. We then had a Teddy Bear’s Picnic with our Bede Burn friends and ended with some fun in the park. A massive well done reception on your first ever trip, you made all your teachers very proud! 
Reception picked up their builders hats yesterday and become St Oz builders! As part of our mini topic, Build It Up, we worked in teams to create our own bridges – look at what we created! ♀️
