Our gorgeous reception children focused on the rhyme ‘Sing a Song of Sixpence’ yesterday as part of our Stories and Rhymes topic… THEN we received a letter from the King who asked us to create honey sandwiches for the Queen and provide her with some instructions on how to make them! We made some wonderful honey sandwiches, which we hope the Queen can make too! 🍯🍞
On Tuesday Reception attended Temple Park for a Superhero Mega sports Festival! The children had an amazing time 
Yesterday afternoon, reception have continued with their RE learning of Special Stories. This week we have focused on the Jewish and Christian story, David and Goliath. The children made a catapult and took on the role of David and battled Goliath in our garden. We focused on how this story teaches us about courage. 🪨💪
Reception had another lovely visit to our local library today! We loved reading stories with librarian Catherine and then picking our own! It was definitely worth braving the wind for! 💨📚
What a brilliant day reception had this week, visiting The Discovery Museum, where our focus was Lost Toys linked to our topic of Long Ago.
We listened to the story of Lost in the Toy Museum by David Lucas and went on a hunt around the museum for lost toys, we had to read clues and find the missing toys. We also created our own Victorian toy called a Thaumatrope, it spins around really fast. In the afternoon we had time to explore the museum.

Yesterday afternoon, reception have been investigating toys and deciding if they are suitable or unsuitable for a baby. We have been using scientific vocabulary to describe materials and sorting them into suitable or unsuitable.
Yesterday, Reception celebrated World Religion Day by learning about Hinduism. Our learning was based around the traditional story of Rama and Sita.
The children listened carefully to the story and talked about the key characters and events.
We created Diyas and discussed how light from the Diyas represent how good conquers evil.
To launch our new topic ‘Stories and Rhymes’, year 6 children became storytellers for our Reception children, on Friday. They visited the classroom to share their favourite stories and rhymes. The Reception children were captivated, joining in with familiar rhymes and listening to stories. This special session helped to inspire a love of storytelling and reading, while also giving year 6 the opportunity to act as a positive role model. 
This week reception have started our new RE learning of Special Stories, we were asked to bring in our favourite story from home. We discussed why this story was our favourite, who we like reading this story with and if there’s a special time we read our stories. 
Reception have had great fun this afternoon enjoying the snow!
