To launch our new topic ‘Stories and Rhymes’, year 6 children became storytellers for our Reception children, on Friday. They visited the classroom to share their favourite stories and rhymes. The Reception children were captivated, joining in with familiar rhymes and listening to stories. This special session helped to inspire a love of storytelling and reading, while also giving year 6 the opportunity to act as a positive role model. 
This week reception have started our new RE learning of Special Stories, we were asked to bring in our favourite story from home. We discussed why this story was our favourite, who we like reading this story with and if there’s a special time we read our stories. 
Reception have had great fun this afternoon enjoying the snow! 
This week in reception we have been focusing on finding 1 less. We used the story of A Squash and a Squeeze to support us with this concept. We built a tower of cubes to represent the characters and took them away as the characters leave the lady’s house .
Reception class are prepped and ready to perform our nativity play tomorrow, here we are in our costumes after our dress rehearsal! We can’t wait 🤩🌟

What a wonderful Christmas morning reception have had for Winter Wonderland!
Reception used their skills while listening to The Gingerbread Man. Each time a new character appeared in the story , the children added 1 more cube to their tower. This activity helped them practise the concept of “1 more”
Yesterday ,we made simple stitches with a needle and wool. It was wonderful to see the concentration, creativity and pride as the children threaded beads onto the wool to produce a Christmas tree. The children truly impressed us with enthusiasm and determination.
This week in reception, children have been investigating how far toy vehicles would travel down a ramp. They made predictions beforehand and gave reasons for this. They measured the distance travelled using string. Children then explained their findings. Well done
