This week we are looking at shapes with 4 sides. For our task we had to add shapes to our house. We identified the 2D shapes and their properties.
In planning time, some children recalled their knowledge of 4 and 5. They made Number Blocks and independently wrote the numbers.
Reception continued their computing this week by programming their own bee-bot. Children had to draw arrows in their books to show what instructions they were going to input. Reception have loved this part of their Marvellous Machines topic.
Reception got into the Christmas festive spirit today! We have a gorgeous day visiting Fenwick’s window and McDonald’s. To finish our day off we loved playing in the snow

Reception loved the worship challenge this week. We had lots of fun following instructions to create Christingles for the Christingle service. We also learnt lots of facts about the Christingle.
The snow hasn’t stopped reception get into the festive spirit, this week – it’s helped! Yesterday, reception wrote their letters to Santa and then designed their own Christmas stamp. The children then identified how much their stamp would cost and practised their number formation when discussing money.
Lots of fantastic learning links to phonics, maths and EAD. Buddy the elf then collected our letters to take to the North Pole!
All of the belly laughing was happening in reception this morning during their bingo session! Some of our children battled it out to get a line and then a full house, eager to shout either ‘BINGO’ or ‘PARTY TIME’ – the children’s choices entirely! Who knew learning our tricky words could be so fun!
There’s been a lot of window peeking today in reception. Our children have been in awe of the weather and the snow and hailstones that have been stopping and starting!
Our reception children had SO much fun with the Beebots this morning! We all had a good giggle (I bet you can guess why!) whilst programming them and following instructions to program specific directions and movements.
Reception started their Miles Away Monday to Japan with a bang! We put our cookery skills to the test and made vegetable noodle soup. We had to listen carefully and follow instructions and then use a range of tools and equipment safely. We chopped, peeled, cut, sliced and grated a range of different vegetables. We then added our ingredients to a wok and mixed them.
After our busy morning cooking we got to try our final product! Well done our mini chefs!
