Year 6 has been working on cooperation and effective teamwork in PE. We had a team game of noughts and crosses using various strategies to win the game. We then had to build a ‘hoop house’ and protect it whilst the other teams tried to knock it down with soft balls.
In Geography, we have been researching Indigenous people of the Arctic. In groups, we studied a particular indigenous group then used our oracy skills to present our information to the rest of the class, who recorded it onto their sheet.
Year 6 started the day completing a SATS style reading comprehension. The text linked to our Frozen Kingdom topic about the explorer – Robert Falcon Scott. Some children set their peers a question to answer.
To launch our new topic ‘Stories and Rhymes’, year 6 children became storytellers for our Reception children, on Friday. They visited the classroom to share their favourite stories and rhymes. The Reception children were captivated, joining in with familiar rhymes and listening to stories. This special session helped to inspire a love of storytelling and reading, while also giving year 6 the opportunity to act as a positive role model. 
Year 6 had an introduction to orienteering in their PE lesson. We had to co-operate with each other to work out how to solve various problems. Communication and listening were extremely important.
Year 6 used their creativity to design and make their Christmas cards. We are sure you will adore how unique they are.
Y6 had a lovely afternoon taking part in Winter Wonderland. Here are pictures of some of the activities they took part in. Thanks to all the parents and careers who were in attendance!
Y5/6 joined together to take part in a carousel activity to help them understand our British Values. After, they went into their own classes to have a debate/discussion: Who’s more important: Jesus or Santa? They had to use their knowledge of the British Values to help them answer the big question.
During their puberty talk, Y6 learnt about how their bodies will change as they get older. They also looked at ways at how to stay healthy through sleep and rest, personal hygiene, healthy eating and exercise. Well done, Y6!
