In RE, Year 6 discussed Jewish beliefs about God.
For Shakespeare Day, Year 6 studied The Tempest. We linked it to our Science topic of Evolution and Inheritance and linked the character’s traits to Nature versus Nurture. We then performed some drama activities to tell the story.
Year 6 started their Gold task for their RE topic – Salvation – What difference does the Resurrection make to Christians? We were tasked to create an image with two sides. One side to represent what life would look like if Jesus didn’t resurrect and the other side to represent life through the eyes of a Christian and why the resurrection was so important to their faith.
Year 6 worked hard to get stuck into their arithmetic learning and completed some SAT practise!
For World Book Day, we focused on a book called Human Environmental Impact. The book links to our Art topic of Environmental Art. We found out some astonishing facts about how humans are affecting the earth. Plastic pollution in the oceans was a huge part of our focus. It is estimated that 171 trillion pieces of plastic are floating in our oceans, affecting marine life and ecosystems.
Year 6 have been working on a statistics unit in Maths. Today, we have been working out the mean of sets of data.
Year 6 started their new PE topic- Striking and Fielding. We started by running a mile, which is nine laps of the yard. This is to improve our fitness. We then practised our reactions and reflexes by seeing who was the fastest to get to the ball. Throwing accurately and catching were the next skills to practise.
Reception and year 6 buddied up for our prayer space afternoon, last week, the children worked gorgeously together, Mrs Chalder and Mr Appleby were so impressed! 

On Monday, Y6 took part in the Safer Internet Day Quiz provided by OpenZone. They children showcased their knowledge about how to stay safe online and got full marks, 30/30! Well done, Y6!
Year 6 has been working on cooperation and effective teamwork in PE. We had a team game of noughts and crosses using various strategies to win the game. We then had to build a ‘hoop house’ and protect it whilst the other teams tried to knock it down with soft balls.
