Year 3 enjoyed a thought provoking reflection session with Mrs Hope this week. She introduced the new reflection boxes and showed the children how they can be used to spark discussions and debates in our classroom.

Year 3 had a different kind of worship today. They spent their reflection session looking closely at our fantastic hall displays. Each class has its own display and it was great to have a discussion about their chosen themes. The children loved the paintings and the scarecrow on the Reception Harvest display and the poppies and the Remembrance Day writing by Year 1 the most.
Year 3 have had a fantastic day for Children in Need. We loved having Mrs McIntosh from Year 1 coming to visit and telling us all about her amazing daughter Grace who has Spina Bifida. We wrote persuasive letters to Children in Need to persuade them to support the charities that we had been researching that help children with a wide range of disabilities.
Year 3 have taken great pride in their poppy display to commemorate Remembrance Day. Whilst reflecting on the service and sacrifice of people from all around the world, they designed and shaded their poppies with great care. We think they have created a fitting tribute to all of our heroes! Well done Year 3.
There weren’t any 3-2-1s on the Year 3 trip to The Word yesterday, only Lights, camera … ACTION! It was a jam packed day, which started with some computer coding using Scratch and then into the green screen TV studio. In the afternoon the children fine-tuned their online safety dialogue for their animations. They can’t wait to share what they created!
Year 3 said ‘hola’ to Mr Matias today in their first Spanish lesson of the year. They enjoyed lots of fun speaking, listening and writing activities. We were so impressed with their super counting and pronunciations!
We have been blown away by the progress in Music in Year 3. Miss Topping joined us for our final lesson in our sustained listening unit. Since September we have been studying the seven elements of music and today’s lesson was all about texture. We found burgers and egg on toast helped us to remember rich and thin textures. Whatever works!
Year 3 spent their forest school afternoon looking at what different types of animals eat. We researched different diets for different animals depending on the season, and then had a hunt around the nature garden to see if we could spot some of the foods they ate in autumn. We found fruit, bark, berries and even some creepy crawlies! We then completed a table for each of our animals and their seasonal diets, and what special features they had to help them find their food.
Year 3 had a VIP visit this afternoon! It was wonderful to see the gorgeous Frankie and her Mam, Mrs Urwin. Welcome to the St Oswald’s family Frankie!
What a fantastic harvest festival, last week! Well done to Year 3 for showing KS2 what fabulous singers they are! Watch out Year 6 😀 👏🏻👏🏻
