Year 4 have been looking at food packaging as part of their DT topic, Fresh Food, Good Food. Last week we looked at different type of packaging, and this week we designed our very own. We used a net template to cut out and construct our 3D packaging, thinking about all the things we needed to include.
Year 4 have been looking at multiplication and division in Maths this week. To help with our learning, some of us have been using the concrete resources as part of Maths lesson today. We looked at the 6 times table, how we could fill in missing number sentences and apply our knowledge of worded problems.
Today Year 4 met up with their Beds Burn pen pals for a joint trip to Jarrow Hall. Linked to their Invasion topic, Year 4 immersed themselves in the Anglo Saxon way of life, from looking at a typical Anglo Saxon farm to recreating an Anglo Saxon battle! It really helped bring our learning to life, and we loved ending our day with an Anglo Saxon story around the fire 
What a fabulous day Year 4 had at WWT as part of Generation Wild! Generation Wild is all about helping children connect and learn through nature and exploring local environments. From mini beast hunting and bird spotting, to learning about the resident otter family, we have had a jam packed day. We ended the trip with a colour nature hunt and fun at the adventure playground!
Year 4 enjoyed their prayer spaces today and taking parts in lots of different reflective activities! We also really enjoyed thinking about what we are passionate about and creating our own prayer space of ‘racism’.

Year 4 have started their computing topic this half term. We have been looking at how we can code on Turtle Academy thinking about different programming principles and commands.
Today Year 4 started their DT topic ‘Fresh Food Good Food’. We have started to think about food packaging and food preservation, so today we looked at a variety of different food packaging and how different packaging is used for different food types. We looked at expiry dates, material type of packaging and whether it could be recycled or not.
This week, as part of ‘Maths Week England’ Mr Richardson challenged us to some Maths Week activities. We have loved expanding our Maths knowledge and have learned some new strategies for working out multiples in the process! Great work Year 4!
Year 4 have started their new Science topic linked to sound this week. We started by exploring different sounds by testing musical instruments to see how these could produce different volume and pitch. We also looked at how the force applied effected the sound. Great investigation work Year 4!
Today Year 4 celebrated World Diabetes Day. We were lucky to have our lovely Alice who is one of our St Oz Diabetes superheroes along with her lovely Mam, Sarah, to talk us through her diagnosis and to answer our questions to help further our understanding.
Miss Marley ended our afternoon reading our class text linked to diabetes ‘Diabetes Doesn’t Stop Maddie’.
