


Year 2 have continued their learning of Magnificent Monarchs and examined royal portraits this afternoon. We looked at a range of portraits and discussed how they can portray how a monarch ruled. We thought about the clothes they wore, the background and the objects they had in their possession!

Yesterday afternoon, reception have been continuing their RE learning of belonging by focusing on the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan. This festival is traditionally celebrated between siblings but we have focused on our friends too. The children have made bracelets and tied them on each others wrists as a symbol of love and protection! 
On Friday, Year 1 celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100 birthday by reading the Little People, Big Dreams biography of his life. Children were fascinated by his upbringing and his fascination with animals. We then had a discussion about what character traits David Attenborough might have and why he is significant. We used our new found knowledge to complete a class quiz about him. Finally children watched his documentary “Kalahari”. Well done Year 1; we loved how interested you were!
On Friday, Year 3 researched facts about David Attenborough. We then created videos and used our oracy skills to present our findings to the class.
In PE this afternoon, year 1 have been doing kick rounders. We began by focusing on accuracy when striking the football then applied this in a game.
This week in RE, reception class have been continuing their learning on belonging. We have been learning all about a traditional Christian baptism and the symbols of this special service.
Today reception have been learning about Sir David Attenborough to celebrate his 100th birthday. We have been learning about who he is and why he’s famous. We have spent time outdoors exploring nature just like Sir David Attenborough. 

Year 5 had their Healthy Mind sessions with Lily today, focusing on unhelpful thoughts, and how we can change these into more positive ones. We looked at what scenarios can generate negative thoughts, and how this can have a negative impact on us. We then finished our session with some mindfulness colouring.
