Year 1 had a fantastic time during their science session yesterday. The classroom was buzzing with excitement as the children predicted what they thought might happen to different materials when water was added. Then the real fun began! They used water spray bottles to wet the materials.
In Science, Year 5 have been learning about forces. We began by looking at the force of gravity and discussed how the moon has a different gravitational pull to the Earth. We then moved onto mass and weight and clarified the confusion between the two! Year 5 were brilliant at distinguishing between Newtons and grams!
Year 3 had a VIP visit this afternoon! It was wonderful to see the gorgeous Frankie and her Mam, Mrs Urwin. Welcome to the St Oswald’s family Frankie!
Our lovely Ryan has walked 60 miles for Great Ormonde Street Hospital in September. He has been out walking in every type of weather before and after school. He raised £100 for charity! A HUGE well done to you, Ryan!
Year 4 have had an afternoon of weaving as part of our current Art topic, and it’s a firm favourite with lots of the children! We experimented with lots of different techniques, and evaluated which worked best and why.
In year 1 this half term for our music learning we are focusing on the key composer Mozart. This week we learnt all about different
instruments, we played a musical instrument quiz, labelled instruments and decided how they were played. We then took part in some sustained listening of Mozart’s music we discussed how this piece of music made us feel and expressed our opinions on this genre of music. Well done year 1 🎶🎸🎻🥁🎹⭐️
Year 2 are loving their History topic Movers and Shakers which is all about significant people in history. They have been developing their knowledge of chronology by creating their own digital timelines and they have also been working in groups to use diamond ranking in order to decide who they believed was the most and least significant person studied. Lots of debating went ahead and they showed fantastic team work and listening skills too! Fab job Year 2, very proud of you all 😀
We did a super job and could hear lots of quacking from the ducks!! 
Year 4 have had an AMAZING day on their first class trip of the year. In line with our current RE topic, we were lucky enough to be invited to visit a Sikh Gurdwara. We spotted the Nissan Sahib flag flying outside, we listened to traditional music, and we were shown the ‘Five K’s’ which we had learned about in class. Year 4’s favourite part of the day was visiting the Langar where we ate rice, Dahl and flatbread, followed by rice pudding! The Year 4 staff were blown away with the class, who were so well behaved and respectful on their visit 
Here we have our superstar gymnast, Maisie! This weekend, Maisie competed for the first time as a ‘top’ in a trio and they just missed first place by 0.6 of a point – wow! A HUGE well done to you, Maisie – we are so proud!
