Year 5 – World Diabetes Day! – 15.11.2022

Yesterday, Year 5 learned all about diabetes. We read a novel called ‘Rosie Becomes a Warrior’ that told us all about the signs, symptoms and medical treatments associated with type 1 diabetes. We then spoke to Miss Robson as her sister has diabetes – she was able to tell us all about how diabetes can impact a person (and their family’s) life and she even wowed Miss Pape and Miss Topping with her knowledge. Some visitors then came in to class to discuss diabetes even more! What a jam-packed morning!

Year 4 – World Diabetes Day! – 15.11.2022

What a great day in Year 4 for World Diabetes Day! We started with a lesson on diabetes, then we were very lucky to have a session with some lovely people from a local diabetes charity, who helped further our understanding and enabled us to ask lots of questions. We created some fab posters with all our new knowledge, and finished our morning reading the book ‘Diabetes Doesn’t Stop Me’.

Year 4 – Spanish! – 15.11.2022

Year 4 love their Monday afternoon Spanish lesson with Mr Matias! This week we looked at how to transform singular into plural, and how to conjugate the verb tener in the first person…very tricky stuff!

Year 3 – Remembrance – 12.11.2022

Year 3 have taken great pride in their poppy display to commemorate Remembrance Day. Whilst reflecting on the service and sacrifice of people from all around the world, they designed and shaded their poppies with great care. We think they have created a fitting tribute to all of our heroes! Well done Year 3.

Year 2 – World Science Day! – 12.11.2022

On Thursday 10.11.22, Year 2 celebrated World Science Day by studying Louis Pasteur and his amazing achievements. We found out that he created the first ever vaccine, which was for chicken cholera. He then went on to create other vaccines for smallpox and rabies. He also discovered how to pasteurise liquids by heating them to kill bacteria. We were amazed that one man had such an impact on the world!

Year 5 – World Science Day! – 11.11.2022

During ‘World Science Day’, Year 5 learned all about Galileo Gallilei – a famous astronomer. This links to our current Science topic of ‘Earth & Space’. We learned all about how Galileo’s work supported the heliocentric theory (that the Sun sits at the centre of our Solar System) and how he is renowned as a world class astronomer still today!
