Year 4 – States of Matter! – 12.10.2021

Year 4 are loving their Science topic of States of Matter. Today they have worked scientifically, looking at gases around us. They investigated why an empty bottle squashes much more easily when the lid isn’t on. Why a sponge releases bubbles in the water when it is compressed. Whether a balloon weighs more when it is blown up and what happens when we put a scent on a tissue and move it to a different place in the room. Some amazing, scientific vocabulary was used and Mrs Pennock and Mrs Wells were so impressed with the detailed explanations and reasons given. Well done Year 4!

Year 1 – Food Describing! – 12.10.2021

As you know, in our science lessons in Y1, we have been talking about our senses. This week we learnt about taste. Year one did a taste test by identifying different foods and describing how the foods tasted!

Year 3 – Our Bede Burn Pen Pals! – 10.10.2021

On Friday, we wrote letters to introduce ourselves to our pen pals at Bede Burn Primary School. We had a great discussion about what we wanted to tell them and also what we want to find out. So lots of question mark practise! Mrs Conway has even written one to the Year 3 teacher there too.

Year 4 – Hello Yellow! – 10.10.2021

On Friday, Year 4 were learning about the connection between mental health and physical health as a part of Hello Yellow day. They did some physical exercises and some mindful activities including yoga and meditation. They then discussed how these activities affected their mood. Year 4 impressed Mrs Lord with their ability to link their emotions to the exercises they had tried.

Reception had a great Hello Yellow day, engaging in lots of activities linked to their feelings and mental health! They had to think about lots of emotions that they might feel and how they felt on Friday! 😁

Year 5 have loved celebrating mental health day! During a discussion with Miss Topping, the class told her all about protecting our mental health, taking the time to relax and how to help others. Well done Year 5!

Year 1 – Hello Yellow! – 08.10.2021

For Hello Yellow Day, year 1 used the film Inside Out to discuss and identify different emotions we feel. We discussed how the character Riley was feeling and then what makes us feel that way. We then spoke about how we can manage our feelings and what strategies we can use to calm down when angry or sad. Great work year 1 😃😢😡🤢⭐️👏
