Today in RE we have been focusing on the big question “What is a church?” We have been discussing that the church is not just the building but it is the people. We have then worked together in pairs to draw what we think a church is like, drawing and labelling the features.
Our worship challenge this week was to get crafty and make a dove of peace. Year 2 rose to the challenge and made some fantastic doves. Well done year 2!
As a part of Years Two’s seascape topic they have spent lots of time creating shades and tints. To practice their skills they worked in groups of three to create a large scale seascape. We got very messy but has lots of fun!
Year 2 loved the prayer space in the nature garden this morning! We sat peacefully and listened to what sounds we could hear in the forest; we heard the wind rustling, leaves falling and the metro of course! We thought about what it would be like to be homeless and wrote messages for those people. We watched and gathered our thoughts as we watched the calm jar. The children particularly enjoyed making a dove of peace and loved the challenge of origami.
We have had an amazing day visiting the Baltic! We had a fantastic workshop with Kevin, enjoying great views of the bridges in Newcastle and drawing them using different techniques. We then went for a Quayside walk to get closer to the bridges, we enjoyed the glorious weather and has been our favourite trip so far this year!
Year 2 have been to visit Reverend Alan in church this afternoon to locate and name the features of a church. Last week in RE we were looking at pictures of the features so it was great to locate the features in real life! Thanks Reverend Alan for taking the time to help us learn and spend time with our year 2 class!
We have had a super afternoon visiting Mortimer Community College. We split off into 3 teams and carouselled around 9 tri golf skill stations aiming to score as many points as possible. Miss Booth’s group scored 117 points, Miss Robson’s scored 94 and Mr Baron’s group scored 130. All together we scored a brilliant 341 points…well done Year Two!
Year 2 have had a fantastic morning working in the nature garden with Mr Scrafton to build a bug hotel! We knew the bug hotel needed to be damp, dark and kept either in the bushes or under a tree. We collected different materials for the bug hotel. Mr Scrafton even let us use his drill to make the bug hotel with his help of course! What a great morning!
Corey and Jake have had a lovely cold afternoon sledging and snowball fights on the clock field. The boys have had an absolute blast. Thank you for giving them this opportunity. Stay safe and hopefully see you all Monday.
