Year 5 had a fantastic day visiting Jarrow Hall. We learnt all about Anglo Saxon life, listened to a Viking Saga around the fire and even took part in a Anglo Saxon and Viking battle. Year 5 were so well behaved and impressed all of the Year 5 staff with their fab knowledge and questions! 
Year 5 have had a fantastic morning learning about Australia. We have learnt about the country, the Commonwealth and even listened to some Aboriginal music with our parents! Thank you so much to the parents for letting us share our learning with you!

Year 5 have loved celebrating World Book Day. We have looked at Viking Saga’s and thought about character development, and also spoke about the significance of heroes in the stories. Year 5 also loved discussing their favourite books with the rest of the class!
Yesterday, Year 5 took part in a forest school afternoon of orienteering. Year 5 LOVED this! We were excellent at taking the time to read a map and finding the plotted points across the yard and nature garden. The weather was glorious for us too! Miss Topping and Mrs O’Doherty were super impressed with Year 5’s forest school skills!
Year 5 had an election today for school council. Each member of the class who put themselves forward read out their manifesto to the rest of the class before the votes were cast. They were amazing!
Today seven of the Year 5 class represented St Oswalds’s in a netball tournament at Temple Park. They played really well and we are very proud of them!
Year 5 have had a fantastic day rehearsing and performing their love day songs! The children have impressed Year 5 staff throughout today with their enthusiasm and superb singing voices!
Year 5 had a great day on Monday, cooking some traditional Viking recipes. We made Viking Stew, bread and spiced oat cookies!
