Our year 5 girls have had an amazing morning taking part in a football festival! They played matches against other teams and completed challenges such as crossbar challenge, dribbling, target shooting and an opportunity to test the speed and power of their shots!
Year 5 had a fantastic morning for Fit 4 Fun on Friday. We loved visiting each station and it was amazing having some of our parents there getting involved and cheering us all on!

Yesterday, Y5 and 6 were lucky enough to receive free books from Marcus Rashford. We were super pleased to receive them and couldn’t wait to begin reading. Some of us have been asking Miss Topping if there’s any chance we can read the books in class! We need to say a big thank you to Miss Pape for sorting out the books for us, we really appreciate it! 😁
Today, in Year 5 we listened to a variety of world music! We listened to: Sea Shanties, Calypso, Bhangra, Indian Classical Music and South African Choral Music. We discussed how music is different around the world according to cultures and trends and thought about how Western music can be influenced by Eastern music etc. Year 5 noted how popular songs such as ‘Havanna’ is influenced by Flamenco music and how ‘Blinded By Your Grace’ is influenced by South African Choral Music.
Year 5 have had a fantastic week completing their Bikeability. Bikeability staff have continually fed back to staff how amazingly well behaved all the children have been, and what a joy they have been to teach. The year 5 staff are so so proud of them all, huge well done!!!
Year 5 have had the best day for our Jubilee Celebrations! We were lucky enough to have our Bede Burn pen pals over this morning, and we decorated our own bunting together ready for our picnic. In the afternoon we had our picnic, some yummy jubilee cupcakes and then we spent the rest of our day playing lots of fun games in the sunshine! What an amazing day to end the half term
Year 5 have really enjoyed our whole school music day. We looked at the song ‘Amazing Grace’ and how we could understand the context of the song. We also looked at our National Anthem, and sang it loud and proud alongside the rest of the school!
What a day Year 5 had for Aspirations Day! We loved talking to all of the amazing visitors we had in school, and really enjoyed asking our questions to find out more about what they do. We then had a great afternoon visiting all the stalls at the careers fayre and left feeling super inspired!
