Today, as part of our Music through Stem Week, Year 4 made their calypso themed musical instruments. We have designed and planned our own maracas and worked really hard bringing our designs to life! Thanks so much everyone for all the resources you have kindly sent in from home!
Today for worship we have looked at disability and how not all disabilities can be seen. Our very own Mrs Mc came to our class with her daughter Grace, who has an ‘invisible’ disability. She talked to us about the barriers she faces and wowed us with her positivity and determination. We also had a visit from some children from Keelman’s Way School who talked to us about the things that support them and help with their learning.
As part of Worship, Year 4 have been focusing on friendship. We have been looking at how to show respect to our friends and peers, and have been working alongside some of Year 6 children to help us with this.
Today Year 4 spent worship with some of our fab Year 6 children to complete a workshop around friendship. We discussed how it is ok to have similarities and differences to our friends, and we created Venn diagrams to display what we had in common with our classmates.
Year 4 took part in our whole school debate morning yesterday as part of RE looking at the big question ‘Is God’s plan set in stone?’ We all devised our different approaches and had a huge class debate putting our points across. Well done Year 4!
Today Year 4 invited their pen pals over to St Oswald’s for an afternoon together. As part of our current topic Ancient Civilisations, we looked at Sumerian inventions and what they were used for. We then went on to recreate some of these inventions ourselves with clay!
In RE, Year 4 are looking at the Pentecost. As part of our RE lesson this week, we created freeze frames to represent the day of the Pentecost, helping us to understand how and why Christians celebrate this.
What a brilliant day Year 4 have had for Aspirations Day! We have looked at what it means to ‘prosper’, and looked at the difference between our skills and our qualities. We thought about the questions we could ask our visitors to gain more knowledge about their jobs, and then went around all of the stalls at the careers afternoon!
As part of our current Science topic, today Year 4 took part in a Light Bulbs and Circuits workshop at the Discovery Museum. We looked at insulators and conductors, and were challenged to make five different types of circuits! Year 4 rose to the challenge and wowed our workshop host Thomas with our knowledge and skills!
This week, as part of their Athletics unit in PE, Year 4 focused on the hurdles and researched the different techniques we could use.
