Last week, Y5 recapped the importance of handwashing for Global Handwashing Day. We discussed why good hygiene is important, how to effectively wash our hands and how to spread the message. We created our own posters on Seesaw which have been shared with families to read!
Year 5 have been learning about their key composer in music, Benjamin Britten. We have learned all about his upbringing, what inspired him to become a musician and how he became one of the most renowned composers of his time! Although this is a bit different from our main genre, ‘80’s synth-pop’, we’re loving the operatic side of things too!
This week was Y5’s turn to lead worship, we told everyone all about Agent Daniel. Y5 were fantastic at delivering their lines, asking deep/reflective questions and being super agents! Well done Y5!
Y5 have had an amazing morning at Simonside Climbing Wall where they blew staff’s socks off! The class were amazing at supporting one another, displayed a brilliant growth mindset and even managed to climb to the top of all of the walls. Thanks so much to Mrs Smith for organising this trip for us!
On Friday, Y5 conducted a mass & weight experiment. We used newton meters to determine the weight and mass of objects within our classroom. We now know that the mass of an object never changes but the weight can depending on the gravitational force! Super scientists!
This week in swimming Year 4 have had lots of fun mastering the technique for backstroke with their swimming teacher. Well done Year 4!
On Friday, Year 4 worked on their sustained listening, where they listened to lots of different genres of music allocated to their year group. We had lots of fun, with Wonderwall by Oasis being a firm favourite! 🎼🥁🎻🎸
Year 4 are really enjoying their Art lessons so far this half term! We have been looking at lots of theories linked to colours and have also explored the colour wheel and how to make these colours through colour mixing! 
For National Fitness Day we have been looking at why it is important to stay fit, and what benefits it brings to both our physical and mental health. We all ran 16 laps of the yard to complete our mile challenge…well done year 4! 
Year 4 have been loving our ‘Picture News’ worship sessions on a Wednesday. Today we looked at a current news story, and then looked at what it meant to be part of a community, both in school and outside of school, and what qualities we bring to the communities we are part of. Amazing discussions Year 4!
