Year 3 completed their art topic, Ammonite, today. We learned what a motif was, drew some motifs and then printed some motifs in our books using printing inks and polystyrene tiles. We then evaluated our clay pieces of art work we created with Mrs O’Doherty last week in forest school.

Year 3, had a great afternoon creating ammonites with clay during Forest school. We also went out to collect soil to test and identify what type it was in our nature garden. We found out we have clay soil!

As part of World Book Day, Year 3 looked at and investigated the journey of the pebble from the book The Pebble In My Pocket. We created compositions around the pebbles journey out of the volcano, then we were all given a pebble to look after across the day. This was the pebble in our pockets. We looked at becoming the pebble and writing pieces of direct speech by following all the key rules of direct speech. We then took our pebbles home and sent them on the next part of their journeys.

For English, we linked direct speech to the book that we have been looking at for World Book Day, The Pebble in my Pocket. We wrote in first person from the point of view of the pebble about the journey we had made so far in the book.

In RHSE, Year 3 looked at identity and why people change their identity while  they are online.

In Computing, Year 3 added different objects and gave different commands. We added different movements, sounds and backgrounds while using the programme Scratch.

Year 3 started started their DT unit, Making it Move, where they investigated different cam mechanisms and planned how to and started to make their own automaton toys!

Year 3 have had a great time during prayer space day, this morning. We have focussed on our school values at each station and completed a range of activities linked to them.

In Music, Year 3 looked at stave and dot notations to show the pitch. We identified whether the notes shown are higher or lower than the note shown before.
