Year 1 have had an amazing miles away Monday to London. We have looked at maps, explored famous landmarks and developed our geographical vocabulary. Our favourite part has been writing our own postcards about our trip to London and posting them in the post box!
This week’s focus in collective worship is Healthy minds and year one had a special visitor from Healthy minds called Lucy.
Lucy talked to the children about the ‘five ways of well-being’ and what we can do to support our mental health. Lucy commented on how impressed she was with how calm all the year one children were and their fantastic responses during discussions.
This morning Y1 have continued their work on place value. We have practiced using Base 10 resources to understand the value of numbers to 20. The children were super at this and grasped the concept so well!
Year One have had a special visit this morning from Nexus to teach us all about the new metro trains and how to keep safe. They loved listening to the story of Alexa the train and gave some very sensible and detailed answers to the safety questions asked. They also learnt 5 golden rules to follow when going on the metro. Well done Year One!
In worship this week, we have been looking at our school Vision, Ethos and Values statement to see what it means to us and others in our school community.
Year One have looked at each part and discussed how they think it all fits together so that they could share their ideas with parents to help them understand it too. They think that our vision, God has a plan is at the top of our display and it helps us to remember what it is that we are working towards.
Our Ethos, Aspire, Believe, Connect are the key ways in which we can go about achieving this vision. Our 7 Values of Love, Growth, Wisdom, Strength, Trust, Peace and Friendship are the things that we are working on and developing everyday to support the vision that God has for us.
Year 1 enjoyed a yummy Christmas dinner, this week, with all their friends, thank you to our amazing school cook, Nicola! 🎅🏻🎄
Walking in a St Oz winter wonderland!
What an amazing experience for our children in year 1, we have had the most magical time making memories with friends & family.
We shared a story around the fire and enjoyed a hot chocolate, we made jingle bells, decorated Christmas decorations, did our best poses for the selfie station, found magic keys in the forest, played with snowballs and met Santa in his grotto.
Thank you to everyone for all your hard work and a BIG thank you to Mrs Whittle for providing all at St Oz with a memorable experience 🎅🏻🎄⛄️❄️
Wow year 1 know how to party, we have had the BEST afternoon! The children have enjoyed pass the parcel, musical statues, stars and snowballs and lots more!

Year 1 had the most magical afternoon at the panto, OH YES WE DID! The children have laughed, danced and sang their little hearts out!
