This afternoon Year 1 had a visit from NatWest Bank. The children took part in the ‘making sense of money’ workshop.
This involved answering questions about: What is money? How do we get money? What can we do with money? What can we buy? and What is a business? The children then completed an activity of setting up their own smoothie business, they were given £25 and used their maths skills to decide on what they needed to start their business and how to budget.
Finally, the children made their own posters to advertise their smoothies!
Year 1 enjoyed a visit to Hebburn hub library this afternoon to return our books. The lovely Tracey read us a story and we explored the library independently. The library staff commented on the children’s enthusiasm and their love for reading.

On Friday, Year 1 presented Mr Scrafton with their letters, asking him to support their cause and become an Agent of Change himself!
In their letters, the children asked for his help to create a friendship station to be rolled out to the whole school, to support those children struggling socially. We also handed him our designs to help him. Thank you for becoming an Agent of Change Mr Scrafton!
