Year 3 have had an amazing day on our rich experience to Beamish Museum. We went down the mine, explored the 1900s and 1950s towns and even got to go on a tram! This linked with our geography topic as we are learning about human and physical geography and how it has changed and also links to our new topic Rocks, Relics and Rumbles!
Year 3 spent the day creating snowman tea light candle holders as our STEM project. We thought about what we could create, planned it and then made it. Our tea light holders will be available to buy at our Christmas Fayre tomorrow for £2.50.
Year 3 had a fun and festive morning at Winter Wonderland. We did lots of fun activities such as making Christmas crackers and decorating Santa hats and having a snowball fight. We also drank hot chocolate and enjoyed toasting marshmallows. Thank you Mrs Whittle for a magical morning.

In History, Year 3 researched how developments and inventions such as mirrors, poetry, carnyx, Celtic pattern, everyday objects, preserving meat, games, firedog, colourful cloth, potters wheel, rotary quern and brooches affected lives in the Iron Age. We worked in pairs to write the key information down and presented them to the class using our oracy skills. Well done Year 3!
Year 3 enjoyed their half term of rich experience trip to the library today. They listened to two Christmas stories read by Catherine, chose books to read over the next half term and then enjoyed some reading time in the library. Thank you to Catherine for reading the stories to us!
Thank you to Mr Richardson for a wonderful prayer space morning, last week. We enjoyed all of the different activities and reflected on personal experiences around Christmas and Advent!
Year 3 have been very busy designing, creating and evaluating our prehistoric pots. We then evaluated our peers’ work and gave them some points on ‘what went well’ and how their work would be ‘even better if’.
This morning, Year 3 had a surprise visit from an elf. The elf set us early work to use our oracy skills to discuss in groups what their name should be. We then debated what names we liked and why. We then voted which name we preferred. Year 3’s class elf is now named ‘Jingles.’
Year 3 had their Forest School session yesterday, and as part of their Prehistoric Pots topic, we spent the afternoon exploring clay. We looked at different joining techniques, and made our own ‘slip’ mixture to help join sections of clay together. We also looked at how we could begin to mould pot shapes with our thumbs, thinking about even thickness.
