In Year 1 we have completed our final piece of work on Seasonal trees, we had to use pointillism to represent each season and choose appropriate colours. They look amazing, I am so proud!

Nolan started swimming lessons a while back he does 1 to 1 lessons and he really didn’t like the water, as soon as he knew it was Monday and swimming on that night he was a nightmare screaming. It got to the point about 3 or 4 weeks ago when his swimming teacher said enough is enough. So 2 weeks ago he got his 5 metres badge but was still crying. BUT wow last night he was fab he didn’t cry! He got to swimming…he got straight in… did 10 metres unaided on his back and front, jumped in off side going under the water and also swam under water to pick up a hoop, he also got himself another certificate for stage 1. He made his mam so happy and proud she had to share this with us! Swimming 🏊🏻♂️ is a very important skill we need, and it appears Nolan has started to feel much more confident. Well done Nolan, we are so so proud of you!
On Wednesday 23rd October year 1 completed our computing unit of pictograms. The children created their own pictograms to find out a range of things such as favourite foods, favourite weather, favourite seasons and favourite animals. The children loved creating their own pictograms and asking various children their opinions! Super job year 1!
On Thursday 17th October blue and yellow group were looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, they had to randomly choose the shapes out of the box and in pairs identify the shape names. They had to decide if they were 2D or 3D and use mathematical vocabulary to describe the shapes such as faces, sides and corners. What a great practical maths lesson!
On Friday 11th October year 1 completed activities for Mental Health Day, we wanted to spread a little kindness around the classroom so we randomly picked a name out of the basket and had to write something kind for that person, we then had to share this with the whole class. It was so heartwarming seeing all the smiles on the children’s faces. We also discussed how important it is to love yourself, we had to draw a picture of ourselves in a mirror and write positive things about ourselves. It was great to have this time to reflect and discuss how we love our lives. What a lovely afternoon we had!
