Year 2 have had an amazing morning learning about lots of careers during Aspirations Day. We started off thinking of questions that we could ask our visitors and then we went into the hall where we got the opportunity to find out about so many different jobs and the skills and qualities needed to do them. Back in the classroom, we then sorted lots of different occupations depending on the skills and qualities needed for them as well as deciding on what careers we might be suited to too!
Year 2 have begun their new art topic, “Portraits and Poses” this afternoon. They really enjoyed working in groups to analyse different portraits of Tudor monarchs, discussing the poses, clothing and why these monarchs would want to be portrayed in these ways.
Year 2 really enjoyed their trip to South Shields as part of their topic, Coastline. They identified and discussed physical and human features across the day. They had their picnic lunch, in the sunshine, and some play park fun before sheltering under trees to escape the sudden torrential rain! They all had a fantastic day and behaved impeccably!

Year 2 are loving their computing unit all about programming. Today they used the Beebots to write different algorithms where they used the same steps but in different orders. Lots of fun was had making sure the robots stayed on the grid given, and the children learnt to debug and fix their commands if they didn’t end up where they first predicted. We can’t wait till next lesson!

This week in PE, Year 2 have been continuing to develop their ball skills by practicing different ways of passing the ball. They used chest passes, bounce passes and over arm throws, thinking about the distance and power needed for it to reach their partner. Many of the children also challenged themselves, by using different hands too!
Year 2 are continuing their DT topic, Beach Hut. This afternoon, we worked in teams to create a box frame using art straws and card. Mrs Wood was blown away with the children’s perseverance and determination to succeed. Well done everyone!
Wowzers! What a day Year 2 have had! From Easter wreath making, to trying Easter food, to egg rolling, we have loved every second. The children have experienced so many lovely workshops as part of our Easter Traditions Day and have been so kind to each other, sharing eggs and resources. Great stuff Year 2!
Last Friday 24.3.23 Year 2 learnt all about how and why Christians celebrate Easter. We watched a lovely video of a lady from Ely Cathedral, who took us through some key parts of Christian celebration.
Year 2 had a fabulous fun-packed DT afternoon as they began their new topic, “Beach Huts.” They began the afternoon by looking at the features and the purpose of beach huts before moving onto experimenting with joining, scoring and strengthening techniques.
