This morning Year 3 used their test technique skills to answer comprehension questions from a boy who had written a letter about being evacuated in the Second World War. We made sure to read the questions carefully and used our highlighters to highlight key information in the text to help us answer the questions and made sure our answers were answered in detail.
On Thursday afternoon, Y3 had a great time in forest school looking at the parts of a flower with Mrs O’Doherty. We continued building upon our knowledge of ‘plant nutrition and reproduction’ in line with our Science topic and looked at the different parts of a flower – thinking about both the make and female parts. We were even lucky enough to get some sun!
Y3 were super lucky last week and had Michael & Anna come to visit us to tell us all about their work as leaders of the Hebburn Dementia charity. We spoke about their work and sessions for people with dementia, how we could come and support during a session as ‘agents of change’ and then we sang some songs together. We spoke about how music is really important for people with dementia and thought about past songs we could sing with them! Thank you so much Michael & Anna!
Y3 had a fantastic time at the library this morning swapping their books! We loved our time there and can’t wait to visit one more time before the end of term!
This morning in Year 3 we looked at historical figures and their timelines. We read the emperors profiles and worked as a group to decide who was the most and least significant emperor and put them into a diamond ranking. We then wrote our reasons why we thought this to back up our opinions with evidence.
Year 3 have focused on their work as agents of change this morning and wrote a letter to the Dementia Charity leaders in Hebburn. We have invited them to come along to our worship to have a chat with us about how we can support them and how they can support us!
In art today, Year 3 recreated a Roman Mosaic border. We paid attention to the different colours, shapes and sizes of tesserae.
In history today, Y3 were learning about the different ways that Rome was ruled. We thought about the pros and cons of the Roman Kingdom, Roman Republic and Roman Empire. We then assorted some key points underneath each ruling type.
Today, year 3 have been focusing on our front crawl techniques by using our extended arms, head down and flippy, floppy feet. We love our Monday swim!
