As part of our worship challenge this week, we have been looking at character reflection, and how we can manage our emotions. We looked at the ‘zones of regulation’ and discussed as a class strategies to get into the ‘green zone’.

Year 4 visited the library this morning. Catherine, the lovely librarian, read us all some stories which we thoroughly enjoyed, before we explored the books in the library. We loved checking out all of the Anglo Saxon and Viking books Catherine had found for us linked to our Invasion topic!

In maths, Year 4 we have been looking at trial and error to help us with our maths problem solving. We completed some Nrich activities this morning, trying to work out missing numbers…this really helped us to focus on our perseverance!
This week in science, Year 4 have been looking at teeth. We used the mirrors to count how many teeth we have, and if we could spot the different types of teeth. We then put our teeth into action and ate some apple and bread, thinking about which teeth we needed to use to bite and chew.
Year 4 have started their new maths topic area this week. Some of us have found drawing shapes of a certain area a bit tricky.
In guided maths, some of us worked with Mrs O’Doherty using the concrete resources to explore making shapes of different areas, making both regular and irregular shapes, and shapes using an even number of blocks, and odd numbers of blocks.
As part of our worship challenge this week, Year 4 have been thinking about justice and fairness.
We looked at various different scenarios, debating these with our partners thinking about fairness and if justice had been served. Then, using our oracy skills, we shared our thoughts in a whole class debate, thinking about how we could put our points across to others.
In RE last week, Year 4 looked at temptation. We came into the class to find bowls of chocolate on all of our tables, to see if, like Adam and Eve, we would give in to temptation! We then roll played Adam, Eve, the snake and God, thinking about how the snake could be convincing, and what God would’ve wanted.
One of our Ozzie 80 categories is to learn sign language…and what better way to tick this off than during International Day of Sign Language! Year 4 linked this to our current music topic, and used one of the songs in our genre to perform in sign language. We learned how to sign ‘Wonderwall’ and performed this as a class.
Year 4 have been practising their jumps and balances in PE this week. We have been challenging each other to see how long we could hold our balances for.
