Year 4 had a brilliant virtual lesson today with an author, Jamie Hammond. Jamie told us all about how he is an author and illustrator of ‘Grumpfort, the World’s Worst Monster Hunter’ and what inspired him to write his book. We all took a quiz to see which monster character we would be and even completed a draw along with him to create one of the monsters from his story! We all enjoyed hearing about the story and has inspired lots of us to want to read it! Miss Marley treated us to reading some during our guided reading session today!

As part of our whole school oracy focus, we are beginning to explore linguistics this half term. Year 4 loved their oracy challenge last week around word choice, and enjoyed playing the word association game to help us understand the importance of the words we choose.

Year 4 have had a great day looking further into character education, with our class focus being centred around friendship. We spent the morning reflecting on our characters, thinking about what made us good friends, and what we would like to develop further in ourselves. We then made a friendship tree, writing on the leaves advice on how to be a good friend. At the end of the morning, we made a friendship circle, passing on positive comments to each other, to show how this can build up self esteem and spread positivity.

Year 4 had a fab jam packed World Book Day yesterday! Our class book to focus on was ‘Animal’ by . We started the day reading the book as a class. We then looked at our own books from home with an animal focus, and shared these with each other. We then focused on animal illustrations, picking our favourite to sketch.

Yesterday, KS2 Lego Club had a fantastic time taking part in the Lego League Challenge Competition! We worked on our coding skills, on our motorised robot and presented our innovate project to a range of judges. It was all about creating a marine app to support marine biologists and their research! We were super lucky and won a trophy for our amazing innovative research!
