What a gorgeous afternoon Year 4 have had at our Sunshine Funtime Family Day! We enjoyed sharing lots of mindful activities with our parents and carers, as well as enjoying some popcorn round the campfire!

Year 4 had their final visit of the year to the library. As always, we loved hearing Catherine read to us and then returned our books ready for our next visit in Year 5!

Year 4 had a great morning at The Great North Museum today. We attended a workshop all around Ancient Egypt and mummification. We became historians for the morning, looking at the two mummified people that are kept in the museum, completing our own investigations by looking at different evidence including X-rays of the bodies! This allowed us to draw conclusions about their life and how they had been mummified.

Year 4 had a fantastic day for our whole school Aspirations Day. We got to meet lots of different people in different job roles and enjoyed asking them about what character traits they needed to succeed in their roles. We then got to spend our afternoon enjoying lots of different workshops, including a budgeting workshop with NatWest, and a session with a Sunderland women’s team player!

Y4 and Y5’s oracy challenge this week was to take part in a workshop led by Mrs Smith all about managing our time. Mrs Smith filled a container with rocks, gravel and water to represent all the different aspects of life we need to juggle in our lives, learning how to prioritise, plan and prepare.
The workshop helped the children to reflect on their daily lives and on how they will work towards their end-of-year oracy speeches in the coming weeks. Thank you, Mrs Smith!

Year 4 have been focusing on stories in English, and have started to plan and draft our story from another culture linked to our topic of Ancient Civilisations. Before we began our plan, we looked at how we could structure our story and the features we needed to include.
