Year 5 continued their science learning today, investigating water resistance. We looked at how more streamlined shapes encountered less water resistance and were able to travel quicker through water. We tested our theory by experimenting with different shapes.

As part of our worship challenge this week, Year 5 reflected on harvest. We wrote our own prayers or thoughts of thanks and used our oracy skills to share these with the class.
Year 5 enjoyed their forest School session last week and continued to investigate friction as part of their science topic. We carried out an experiment to test air resistance, making our own parachutes of different surface areas to test our theories.
Year 5 have been doing a lot of work around the zones of regulation as a class. We have been thinking about our own strategies that we can use to help us when we are in each of the zones to ensure we are always reading for learning when we need to be. Great self reflection a Year 5!
Year 5 had a brilliant afternoon at The Word to visit their ‘Cogs and Carnivals’ exhibition. The interactive exhibition brought the fair to life with mechanical models, which links to both our current science and DT learning.

This week in swimming, Year 5 revisited our front crawl technique. We thought about our arms and how to streamline ourselves so we could glide through the water!
Last week, Year 5 took part in National Fitness Day. Miss Marley, as our PE lead, spoke to us about how building our fitness links in to our school ethos and values. We really enjoyed testing our strength and building on our resilience during the challenge!
Year 5 and Year 1 enjoyed working together for International Day of Peace. We completed all of our prayer space stations with peace as our main focus in each task. Year 5 were a great support to Year 1 and helped them to complete each station.
