This week in swimming, Year 5 revisited our front crawl technique. We thought about our arms and how to streamline ourselves so we could glide through the water!
Last week, Year 5 took part in National Fitness Day. Miss Marley, as our PE lead, spoke to us about how building our fitness links in to our school ethos and values. We really enjoyed testing our strength and building on our resilience during the challenge!
Year 5 and Year 1 enjoyed working together for International Day of Peace. We completed all of our prayer space stations with peace as our main focus in each task. Year 5 were a great support to Year 1 and helped them to complete each station.
Year 5 enjoyed a whole class debate as part of this weeks worship challenge. Mr Appleby set us a challenge to debate for and against points for the statement ‘Everyone should be responsible for looking after the environment, even if it means changing the way we live’.

As part of our geography topic, Year 5 have been exploring Ordnance Survey maps. We looked at scale, grid references and keys to help us understand these better, and then were challenged to use our maps to answer questions.
Year 5 carried out their class elections today! We started by writing our manifestos to detail why we think we would be successful in the role and our priorities for the improvements we would like to see in school. We then delivered our manifesto to the rest of the class, using all of our oracy skills, before we cast a democratic vote. Watch this space to find out who was elected!
This week in swimming, Year 5 focused on breast stoke. We focused on our leg technique, bending our legs and then turning our feet out, which was trickier than we thought!
