As part of worship, Year 5 have been looking at the tree of life this week. We thought about what the tree of life tells us about God. For our challenge this week, we had to look at how we could represent this concept through colour.
Year 5 loved watching our class feature on the BBC News this week! The news reporter came into our class as part of a news report on our school campaign to save our church! We then reflected on this after watching and discussed how it made us feel.

Year 5 focused on breast stroke again this week in swimming, concentrating on getting our technique correct with placing our feet in the right way.
Year 5 looked at contour lines as part of their geography learning this week. We looked at how contour lines appeared on Ordnance Survey maps, locating areas with gentle slopes as well as inclined peaks.
Year 5 continued their science learning today, investigating water resistance. We looked at how more streamlined shapes encountered less water resistance and were able to travel quicker through water. We tested our theory by experimenting with different shapes.

As part of our worship challenge this week, Year 5 reflected on harvest. We wrote our own prayers or thoughts of thanks and used our oracy skills to share these with the class.
Year 5 enjoyed their forest School session last week and continued to investigate friction as part of their science topic. We carried out an experiment to test air resistance, making our own parachutes of different surface areas to test our theories.
Year 5 have been doing a lot of work around the zones of regulation as a class. We have been thinking about our own strategies that we can use to help us when we are in each of the zones to ensure we are always reading for learning when we need to be. Great self reflection a Year 5!
