Year 1 have had so much fun playing in the snow this week with all their friends!

This afternoon year 1 have started their new science topic, seasonal changes. Firstly, the children watched a video and answered questions to show their understanding of the similarities and differences between seasons and the way seasons change. Secondly, we decorated four given trees to show understanding of the four seasons. Next, the children sorted pictures into their correct headings and then made predictions about how things will change in spring.
Year 1 had a fantastic time at their Christmas party on Tuesday. The children loved playing games, winning prizes and dancing their feet off! How gorgeous do they all look.
Year 1 had the best afternoon at the pantomime yesterday. We laughed, sang-long and danced with our friends, really getting into the Christmas spirit.
Year 1 have enjoyed a wonderful and very productive Christmas STEM Day. First of all, in the THINK phase they explored different examples of log slice decorations, noting shape, colour and design for inspiration. Next children created a PLAN of what they wanted to make, drawing a labelled diagram, stating the audience for their product and listing materials needed. In the BUILD phase, children selected and used materials accurately to make their product. Finally children will EVALUATE and COMMUNICATE what they have made.
Well, what an amazing time Year 1 had at our Winter Wonderland this morning. We loved making our Santa hats, decorating our gingerbread men, drinking hot chocolate and eating marshmallows as well as the fantastic snow globe bouncy castle. Thank you so much Mrs Whittle for organising it all!
Year 1 have had a gorgeous Christmassy morning with their friends in year 2. We visited the cinema in Newcastle to watch Paw Patrol’s Christmas movie and then walked along Northumberland Street to see Fenwicks Window.
Year 1 had the BEST time this morning at the KS1 Christmas festival. The children enjoyed joining in with a range of Christmas themed activities with their friends.
