On Monday afternoon, reception paired up with their buddies in Y6 for RE. We were looking at God’s Wonderful World. We went on a nature walk around the nature garden and collected some different autumnal objects. We then took a photograph of one wonder that awed us. We had a gorgeous afternoon with our buddies.
In planning time, reception have been discussing autumn and the seasonal changes we noticed. We have been refining our motor skills and using a vast range of natural resources.
To celebrate Black History Month and our Mover and Shaker Martin Luther King Jnr, reception have been learning about our appearance how we are all different.
We created self portraits by sketching and using oil pastels. We also created backgrounds by printing different shapes and patterns using sponges and rollers. We were so proud of our artwork we invited Mrs Sharrock and Mr Keelan to our art gallery.
During our PE session, Reception have been developing and refining a range of ball skills. We have teamed up with a friend to roll, catch, pass and throw a large ball.
Reception have been exploring capacity and size this morning. We were filling different jugs and containers talking about if they were full, empty, big and small. We used the water and sand to explore these concepts.
Reception have been applying their phonics during guided reading. We have been identifying initial sounds and sorting the pictures. Some of us have been blending and matching the sounds to the words.
Wow! What a phenomenal morning reception had at the Customs House to watch the Tiger Who Came to Tea. Children were engaged and joined in with the singing, dancing and audience participation. We are all incredibly proud of them all!

Shaving foam fun! Yesterday we explored mark making and the letter formation of ‘s’ in the shaving foam. We LOVED this sensory experience of mark making.
