Year 2 have had a brilliant first day back learning all about habitats and migration at the Washington Wetlands! We loved being out in nature and learning all about Ava the Osprey and how she was going to travel south across the sea and desert!
Year 2 have had a brilliant first day back learning all about habitats and migration at the Washington Wetlands! We loved being out in nature and learning all about Ava the Osprey and how she was going to travel south across the sea and desert!
Year 2 have had a fantastic day consolidating their learning about Coastlines at Whitby. We began at the Captain Cook museum where we got to view his old apartment and learn about his life. After lunch, we were able to walk around Whitby and see all of the tourist spots! We are super sleepy after climbing the 199 steps!
On Friday, Year 2 went to the Winter Gardens in Sunderland to take part in 2 workshops linked to our learning in Science and Geography. We began our learning by taking part in a growing pants workshop where we focussed on what a plant needs to survive before potting our own plants. In the afternoon, we look at the coastline of Sunderland and thought about the changes from the past to the present.
Year 2 focussed on dribbling in basketball this week. We thought about how to position our bodies and how to bounce the ball using only one hand. Then, we added movement to our dribbling! After focusing on the skill, we applied it to some short games of basketball.


Year 2 completed a practical maths lesson today focussed on measuring in metres. We all picked an item from our classroom, estimated whether it was longer or shorter than a metre and the measured it to find out the result!
Last week, Year 2 were introduced to AI technology during Safer Internet Day. We discussed what AI is and thought about some examples. Then, we spoke about the dangers of using AI and how it isn’t always reliable.
Yesterday, Year 2 had the best time celebrating Rio Carnival Day. We began by learning all about Brazil and then moved onto focusing on Samba music, which is the cultural style played during the celebrations. In the afternoon, we created carnival masks and then made a salsa dip which the people of Rio eat during carnival!
Year 2 have been focussing on the colour and pattern of flowers in art. They began by creating the shape of a flower with coffee filters and then used pipets to wet the material and distributed food colouring in patterns!
