Year 2 have been focussing on the colour and pattern of flowers in art. They began by creating the shape of a flower with coffee filters and then used pipets to  wet the material and distributed food colouring in patterns!

On ‘time to talk day’ Year 2 were set a challenge from Mrs Smith to work collaboratively using their Oracy skills to make some beach huts. We focussed on our physical, linguistic, cognitive and social & emotional skills when working in our groups and then further developed our skills by presenting to our parents our finished huts and evaluated them! What do you think everyone?!

On Thursday, Y2 prepped their ‘time to talk day’ and focussed on the skills needed to build a beach hut. We thought about making butt joins with wooden dowels to create box frames, how to score and strengthen card and even used saws and hot glue guns!

Last week in PE, year 2 focused on rolls in gymnastics. We used a range of posters and videos to copy and then tried to form our rolls with lots of control!

Year 2 had a fantastic time feature spotting down the foggy coast! We were able to spot lots of things like fish & chip shops, guest houses and a bay… unfortunately it was super misty so we had to come back to school and try to spot some more features on Google Earth 

Year 2 began their first lesson in gymnastics today which was focussed on balances. We thought about trying to keep control of our bodies and how sometimes that can be tricky! Take a look at our patch and point balances!

Year 2 began their first official lesson on digital literacy today and focussed on self-image & identity. We began by thinking about avatars and how we get to decide what they look like. We then secretly created our own and got our classmates to try and identify each others! We spoke about the positives and negatives of being able to identify identities online.

Year 2 loved Winter Wonderland yesterday and had a magical time with their families!
