Year 1 have had a gorgeous Christmassy morning with their friends in year 2. We visited the cinema in Newcastle to watch Paw Patrol’s Christmas movie and then walked along Northumberland Street to see Fenwicks Window.
Year 2 LOVED personalising the Christmas tree this morning! Next time you’re all in worship, try and spot our decorations… Thank you Mr Collins for helping us put them up!
On Friday, Year 2 went to Temple Park and took part in a tennis festival! They demonstrated all of the skills that they had been learning throughout PE and had a fantastic time! 
This week in Y2 we have been learning about bullying in line with anti-bullying week. We spoke about this year’s theme, power for good, and discussed how by using our voices we can put an end to bullying. Y2 wrote down lots of different ways to show kindness when bullying is present.
On Friday, Year 2 continued with their geography topic ‘Let’s Explore the World’ and looked at hot, cold and temperate places. Year 2 thought about the distance of the places from the equator and read about their weather patterns to sort them into the different categories!
Year 2 have had an amazing DT week focussing on cookery. We have built up our skills to plan and make a healthy school meal. We all communicated our thoughts and assessed two recipes against a design criteria. As a class we decided that cooking a vegetable casserole was the most suitable which is what we have been focussing on today!
Year 2 spent their forest school afternoon investigating number bonds to help with their addition and subtraction unit in maths. We even completed a number bond hunt around the nature garden!
Year 2 loved being agents of change this morning and posting leaflets into our communities doors! The leaflets discuss the potential closing of the church and we wanted to highlight this to our neighbours!
Year 2 had a brilliant day at the Laing Art Gallery yesterday consolidating their learning of their ‘Mix It’ art topic. They began by exploring the art gallery and thinking about how art can tell a story. Then, they made up their own stories and drew their art work. Finally they used watercolours to bring the story to life!
