As part of St Oswald’s school development plan this year, our focus in worship is ‘character’. The children have been focusing on God’s traits as well as recognising their own traits.
For this week’s worship challenge, the children watched a video about God being a creator and we become creators ourselves and made a world representing some God’s creations.
Year 1 impressed Mrs Wells with their Geographical knowledge when discussing perplex pictures of our wonderful world as part of our new topic in Geography.
On Friday Year 1 started our PE unit, ball skills. The children demonstrated different ways of throwing and catching. Your teachers were very impressed, well done everyone!
In year 1 we are currently working on place value within 10. This morning the children enjoyed a ‘one less game’ after completing their work, demonstrating what they have learnt so far.
Yesterday, in RE, Year 1 read the parable of The Lost Son. Children discussed the story and then worked in groups to role play the events in the parable. They tried hard to show the different emotions experienced by each character,through their facial expressions and gestures. Well done Year 1!
Year 1 have had a fabulous afternoon for their first Forest School session! We have spent our afternoon investigating shelters as part of our new Shade and Shelter topic.
We have found shelters in our school grounds and thought about their purpose, before having a try at making our own shelters, thinking about what materials would be best. Great work Year 1!
Year 1 have had a fabulous Healthy Minds session with Lucy this afternoon, thinking and talking about their worries. They discussed how the worries made them feel and drew pictures inside a body outline to show these feelings.
We bet there were some tired reception legs, last night! Reception have had an amazing final trip. We loved our ferry trip, park visit and ice lollies. What a gorgeous end to the year!
The rain didn’t stop us! Reception enjoyed their mini Sport’s Day with Miss Marley. We enjoyed running, balancing and racing. Thank you Miss Marley.
On Thursday afternoon, Reception put their design skills to the test and made their own lighthouses and beaches. We were blown away by the independence and creativity in the classroom!
