Year 1 have had the best morning at Temple Park for a Christmas multi-skills festival. The children joined in with a range of fun-themed Christmas activities and really got into the festive spirit, Ho Ho Ho!

Yesterday, Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful No Pens Day! We had great fun learning makaton sign language to the song Father Christmas and then they performed the poem Dear Zoo. After lunch, our lovely parents joined us for COOL afternoon where we used our oracy skills to discuss a perplexed picture.
As part of Road safety week year 1 put into action what we have been learning this week. The children focused on the green cross code and how to cross a road safely.

Year 1 had a brilliant time completing their DT unit, “Shade and Shelter” with Mrs O’Doherty in forest school.
Having made an earlier prototype, children were asked to work in teams to build a stable, waterproof den. After children had completed their Gold task, they were given time to explore the nature garden and feed the chickens and ducks!

This week is Anti- Bullying Week and Year One have been delving into the theme of ‘Choose Respect’. We thought about what the word respect meant means, how we show it and why we should respect everyone, even people we don’t know. We created acrostic poems as part of our English work, to help us remember some of the key steps to being respectful.
