Year 4 had a fantastic (muddy) morning of forest school today with their Bede Burn pen pals! We linked our learning to Easter and created some Easter gardens, crosses and tombs. We then spent time with the chicken and ducks and finished the morning toasting some marshmallows around the fire – we thoroughly enjoyed this part! 😋🍡🦆. ✝️
In music, Year 4 have been looking at how they can create their own symphony from a given stimulus. We listened to a thunderstorm and created graphic representations, and then worked in groups to compose a piece of music to sound like a rainstorm. We then performed these for he test of the class!
This week for our worship challenge, Mr Richardson asked Year 4 to ‘cast the first stone’. We each took a stone, and using our oracy skills, we discussed a time we might have made a wrong choice. We placed our stones in a container to represent not ‘casting it’. Year 4 as always embraced their task and were very reflective!
Year 4 enjoyed this half terms visit to the library today. We returned our books from last half term, and picked a new one to read. We enjoyed listening to the lovely Catherine from the library reading us a story too 
Last week, in PE, Year 4 have been focusing on their hockey skills. We looked at the correct way to hold the hockey stick, and talked about the correct way to pass the ball. We also looked at sportsmanship and the way we conducted ourselves during matches.
Introducing Year 4’s Homework Heroes wall! We are really focusing on our homework, in particular, our Talk homework, and how this is a great opportunity to help with our sticky knowledge and share our learning with our grown ups at home. Each week we will display the wonderful things Year 4 have chosen to share as part of their homework 
What a fantastic time Year 4 have had celebrating World Book Day. We started the day reading our allocated class book, The Emperor’s New Clothes. We then completed some activities linked to our book which helped to develop our oracy skills.
As part of this terms music, we have been looking at composition. Year 4 spent the afternoon with our music lead Miss Topping who helped us to produce a dot notation grid. We then discussed what the different types of composition are and what a stimulus is. We finished off the afternoon composing our own music with lyrics linked to our Geography topic…what a way to combine our learning!
Yesterday, Year 4 have been bringing together some of their learning for their Geography topic Misty Mountain Windy River in preparation for their upcoming Gold task. We have created some fact posters on rivers and mountains to showcase all we have learned so far. Mr Hawkins and Mrs O’Doherty have been so impressed with Year 4’s enthusiasm for this topic!
As part of Disabilities Awareness Month, Miss Dixon delivered a worship this week talking about how we are all different. We thought about how we can be agents of change around this topic, and how we could further our understanding. Year 4 were challenged with deepening our knowledge on Dyspraxia, and Miss Dixon came into our class to talk to us about this, before creating our own mind maps.
