Year 4 have loved getting practical in their science topic ‘States of Matter’. Today we have looked at the process of melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation. We investigated how chocolate and butter can turn from a solid state to liquid state when applying heat. We all discovered how tasty it was eating the melted chocolate after!

‘Wow what a match with an attendance of over 4100. It’s been a great afternoon for going 1 nil down to a 2-1 lead and then 2-2 at half time, then a second half for absolutely smashing with Newcastle ladies WINNING 4-2! I’ve a fantastic afternoon thank you so much for the tickets!

Year 3 had a great afternoon testing the suitability of shoes for different surfaces as part of their science unit about forces. Their next job is to put their results into bar charts and analyse!

Our Appleyard, Puddles, has had quite the adventure today. On finding that she had a poorly foot – she had to go allllll the way to Darlington to see the vet! It was a long journey, but everyone in the vets was very taken with our little duck. She’s home safe and sound now, with some medicine, and a few weeks of R&R (much to her dismay!) prescribed. 🚑👩⚕️
Our lovely Puddles was feeling pretty grumpy by the time she got back to the coop, she if you can spot her giving Miss Pape some serious side eye from the window of her hutch… 👀🦆

This week in Forest Club we made our own salt dough nature decorations. We loved getting messy making our dough! We went on a hunt for leaves to make prints in our dough, and even looked at identifying the different leaves we used. We are going to wait for our creations to air dry, then we plan to paint them and hang them around the nature garden. Fab job a Forest Clubbers!
Yesterday, year 1 had started our art unit of Rain and Sunrays and what an afternoon we’ve had. We have created weather motifs using a range of materials, we then had to use our computing skills to take a photo of our artwork and upload them onto seesaw. We made LOTS of mess but wow what super pieces of transient art! 🌤⛈☀️🌧🖼
Reception learned lots yesterday for Safer Internet Day! We talked all about how to keep safe online and who you should talk to if you don’t like something. We then looked at different scenarios from some fairytale characters and talked about which emoji they would be feeling and what they should do! Great job Reception
