Year 1 had a great afternoon planting and harvesting potatoes. We worked in pairs to plant some potatoes in pots. We then had great fun harvesting the potatoes previously planted. We can’t wait to give them to Nicola tomorrow!

Here is our lovely Ryaa feeling super proud of her weekend fundraising using our school football cards! Ryaa has worked hard over the weekend with the support of her mam and we are blown away to see the football card filled and hear about the amazing fundraising already done! Thank you so much Ryaa, Courtney and everyone taking part!
Year 3 enjoyed their morning in the prayer spaces set up by the others classes on Friday morning. We visited our own prayer space called going for goals, the Reception class prayer space and that of the Year 1s. The weather conditions were perfect. We were able to respond and reflect outdoors and really appreciate our beautiful surroundings. We can’t wait to spend some time visiting the others next week.
It was a fun-filled day in Year 4, last week! During Friday morning, prayer space day had us reflecting on certain areas of our ethos and values, then we made Olympic torches with Mrs Hope and of course, we’ve been in red, white and blue all day to support England!
Year 2 loved showing their support for the England vs Scotland match on Friday with their red, white and blue. Everyone looked fabulous and hopefully we have contributed towards our fundraising.
Year 1 really enjoyed our prayer spaces afternoon, we used our computing skills to take a picture of one of the ethos and values that was the most important to us. We then added a voice recording to explain why we chose this. We then completed a going for goals activity, we wrote about what we aspired to be when we are older and hung them on the net. We then hit the ball in the net to aim for our goal. We also reflected on how different the trees, plants and flowers are in the nature garden and linked this to how we need to appreciate people for how different we are! Super work year 1 ![]()

Come on England

During forest school today, Year 4 found an Iron Man! Mr Usher asked our class to dig up the wood clippings pile (which was smoking in the heat!) where we eventually hit something shiny with our shovels… To our surprise it was an Iron Man! We then decided to think about any potential dilemmas the Iron Man might have faced, discussing how he ended up here at St. Oswald’s.

Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed Music Day and really impressed Mrs Wells with their musical capabilities. They started off improvising to the song Hot cross Buns and then soon learnt that the different ways they were clapping linked to musical notes of different lengths. It didn’t take them long to understand crotchets, quavers and minims and before they knew it, they were being composers. They played around with the words from the song and thought about the scale too. As they were so amazing, it didn’t stop there. Not only did they compose on paper, they were also able to digitally compose using Google Chrome Lab. Check out their amazing work on Seesaw. We are so proud of you all
