Year 1 have had the best day at The Shipley Art Gallery to further their learning in the topic “Mix it”. Our workshop was based around exploring primary and secondary colours using oil pastels. To do this, a leader from the gallery discussed the local landmark The Angel of The North. The children created human structures, then in groups used their artistic skills to create a sculpture of the Angel of The North. Lastly, the children used primary colour oil pastels to create secondary colours to draw their own pictures. The leader commented on the children’s fantastic attitude to learning and how full of ideas they all were.
