We are looking into a trip for our Reception children to Edinburgh Zoo for the day on Friday 10th May 2024. This is linked to our new topic ‘Safari Animals’. The children will travel from Newcastle via train to Edinburgh Waverly and then get on a bus to the Zoo. Children will then have the day exploring the zoo before returning. Children will meet at Jarrow Metro at 7.45 am and travel to Central Station for a train at 8.42 am. Children will then leave Edinburgh and arrive into Newcastle at 5.45 pm, before returning to Jarrow on the metro.

The cost of the trip would be £35 for non-pupil premium children and £30 for those eligible for pupil premium. We appreciate this is a costly trip, and as a school we have subsidised the cost using some of our curriculum budget but it is also a fabulous opportunity for a memorable experience for our children, not to mention that our costings for a trip to our most local zoo, with coach, came out at almost the same price!

We would allow payments to be split, with the first instalment of £15 by Friday 29th March and the remaining balance by Tuesday 30th April.

It will be optional and those children who don’t wish to attend will still be able to have their normal lessons in school.
