Dear Parents and Carers,

I assume you are all aware of the Prime Minister’s announcement tonight that schools are to close from now until after February half term.

I so wish this information had been shared with Headteachers over the weekend so that we could have been prepared for this.  However, this is the situation we are in and as such we must now ensure we have robust plans moving forward.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 5th January 2021) the school will be shut to ALL children.  I absolutely understand what a nightmare this will be for some of our working parents/carers however the government have given us no alternative with such a short time period in which to plan.

As always, my main priority is ensuring that everyone is safe.  If we were to open tomorrow at this point, I would be unaware of how many children we were expecting and would not have sufficiently risk assessed or strategically thought out the education for our vulnerable and critical worker children.

Twelve hours to make such huge decisions regarding such drastic changes to the running of a school is just not feasible.

Tomorrow Jade Pape and I, will put together a clear plan for moving forward and hopefully have this ready to communicate with all parents/carers by 4pm tomorrow afternoon.

Please can I respectfully ask that any comments, questions or queries are communicated to us in the morning as it now 9pm and we have a long day ahead of us in the morning?

Again, HUGE apologies for the inconvenience caused but the safety of our children MUST come first!

Stay safe everyone!

Kind Regards,

Helen Smith
