Today is National Fitness Day and we celebrated this by running a mile around our school yard alongside Years 1 and 2 and some of our teachers. It was hard but we had so much fun!

In Science, Year 3 predicted and conducted a fair experiment on fatty foods. We ranked different foods in order and tested the foods to see how much oil/fat would be on the brown paper. We found out that rice cakes was the least fattiest and cashew nuts were the most fattiest.
In basketball, year 3 practiced their passing variety and accuracy.
Year 3 enjoyed learning about democracy today and how it links to our British Values. We even voted in our school councillors. Congratulations Ella and Ryan!
Year 3 had a fab Forest School session last week, focusing on our new geography topic, Our Planet, Our World. We started our afternoon by testing our sticky knowledge from our Year 2 Coastline topic. We reminded ourselves about the difference between human and physical geographical features, and then investigated our nature garden to see which features we could spot, and labelling these on a map. We then looked at the different compass points, completing a task to see if we could recognise each direction.
Year 3 have had an amazing day at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. We have looked at different types of animal bones, labelled the human skeleton and identified different carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. We then explored the museum and winter gardens.
In RE, Year 3 discussed the Bible story of Noah’s Ark and what it was like for Noah and his family to follow God. We discussed our favourite parts and least favourite parts of the story. We then discussed what Noah’s covenant with God was and wrote down the different qualities of Noah.
Year 3 had a practical Maths lesson flexibly partitioning three digit numbers up to 1000.
Year 3 enjoyed their first Library Trip of the year. Catherine read us 2 stories and then we had some time to choose and read our own books. We can’t wait for our next library trip!

Year 3 explored the properties of watercolours by mixing colours and experimenting layering different colours. We mixed black and white to make the colours darker and lighter.
