Reception had a gorgeous afternoon on Wednesday. As part of our companion KRP we created our own hand puppets. We used a range of resources and skills to create them. We will then use them to tell a story and perform!
Reception had a fabulous morning at the Urban Factory on Tuesday. They joined several other schools for the co-ordination challenge. We practised a range of skills including; balance, jumping, climbing, rolling and using apparatus safely. We impressed Miss Marley with of physical development and listening skills.
Well done Reception!

Reception had a jam packed day yesterday with our festive visit to Newcastle. We started with a trip to Fenwick’s Window and then McDonalds. We LOVED this little treat and the Grinch activities. We then went to the Northern Stage to watch a performance of Wolf! Everyone was engaged and joined in from the audience. We had a fab day with our friends from Bede Burn.
As part of ‘No Pens Day’ on Wednesday, reception focused their provision on robots as part of our marvellous machines KRP. We created our own robot split pins and moved them like the robots in our performance poetry. Thank you to our parents and carers for watching our performances and sharing our learning.

For UK Parliament week this week, reception have been thinking about people who help us. So far we have thought about firefighters and police officers. During planning time we have created our own emergency vehicles using different techniques with paint. Some of us built our own vehicles in the construction area.
In guided reading, some of reception have been focusing on initial sounds and blending. We had to crack the code by identifying the initial sounds of each picture and then forming our letters. Once we had each sound we blended the sounds together and read the words.
For worship this week, reception discussed their understanding of kind and unkind. We talked about how we can be a kind friend and our actions. We then listened to the story ‘the lion inside’ and talked about how we can be brave.
