In music this afternoon, year 1 have been revising compositional skills we have already learnt. We then applied this to graphic notation to perform the story of The Great Fire Of London.

For worship this morning, year 1 joined in an activity focusing on patience. They worked in pairs and had to listen for a keyword and remain patient in reacting to get the come before their partner.
This afternoon in year 1 we have been looking at Victorian artefacts. We looked at photos of these and matched them to their description. For our written task we then compared classroom Victorian artefacts to equipment we use today in class!
On Friday, Year 1 started their new computing unit “Programming Animations” by discussing their prior programming knowledge, linked to Beebots. Children were then introduced to the “Scratch Jr” app on the iPad and shown how to use programming blocks to move a sprite across the screen. The children blew Mrs B away with their prior programming knowledge and their ability to apply this to animation.
Year 1 started a new topic in PE this afternoon, team games. We had a discussion about what is a team game, what team games do we know, do all team games have the same rules and what character traits do you need to be a good team player. We then played basketball and put our knowledge and skills to the test.

In history this afternoon year 1 have been continuing their topic, school days. The children sorted statements about what Victorian schools were like into true and false.
