Year 1 have been continuing their art unit of Rain and Sunrays, this week we have explored line and shape using hard and soft pencils. We’ve then explored textures, feeling a range of materials and explaining how they feel! Great job!

Year 4 have been so engrossed in their Science topic this half term. We have loved today’s experiment looking at the three states of water, investigating the temperatures that determine each state.
Year 4 carried out their termly multiplication check in preparation for their end of year Times Table Assessment. Mr Richardson came in as Maths lead to talk to us about how we can prepare ourselves for this. Staff were blown away by the progress children have made since last term! Big thank you for all your help and support practising on Times Table Rockstar at home, this is making a huge impact!
Wow Reception had an absolutely jam-packed, fab day on their first trip out! We learned lots about life long ago by looking at items, exhibitions, re-enacting some past events and even drew a self portrait to look back on when we are older!…aaaand we most certainly enjoyed our packed lunches

Today Year 4 completed their Art gold task painting landscapes. We have applied all we have learned to produce our landscape art, evaluating perspective and proportion.
Tonight our awesome Forest Club made some bird feeders to decorate our nature garden! Fab work as always you amazing lot!
This half term Year 2 have absolutely loved their Art unit “Flower Head”. Over the last few weeks we have built up our skills in modelling and using clay. We have looked at shape, form and texture and have even studied colour mixing and pattern. On Thursday 16th February we pulled all of this learning together in our gold task, where the children created their own flower sculpture out of clay. There has been a huge amount of learning in this unit and we are so impressed!
Year 2 are really getting to grips with their Multiplication and Division unit through lots of practical activities. On Thursday 16th February some of the children started to explore the meaning of multiplication and linked this to repeated addition. The children really enjoyed this activity and lots of minds were blown when they realised that multiplication is really repeated addition of the same amount. Well done Year 2 – this is such a tricky concept!
In Thursday morning worship, Year 2 did some mindfulness colouring and spent a lovely period of quiet reflection time, thinking about the people they love, in line with Valentine’s Day. The children were very calm and peaceful and we all found this a nice activity which left us focused and ready for our learning.
Yesterday morning, St. Oswald’s showcased the songs they had been working on during their weekly ‘praise through song’ sessions. Mrs Smith was blown away by the level of worship and musicality all of the children displayed. Well done everyone!
