Year 1 have had the BEST afternoon in forest school with our lovely Mrs O’Doherty. The lesson linked to our topic ‘school days’ and our aim was to understand how litter and pollution affects our local environment. The children had a discussion about how litter can effect animal habitats linked to our science topic ‘animal parts’ and how we can be agents of change by litter picking in our nature garden and taking pride in our school. We also created our own posters to spread the word on looking after our environment and not littering. The children loved going inside the chicken and duck coop, wow we found so many eggs! Finally, the children had free play, exploring the nature garden with all of their friends.
Reminder – we have our chicken and duck egg coop at the front of the school building and it is full with freshly laid eggs. These are available for a welcomed donation.
