On Friday, Year 1 explored pitch as part of their compositional skills work in music. First of all, children listened to notes played on a glockenspiel and indicated if they thought the note was a high note or a low note by placing their hands on their head (high) and hands on their knees (low). We also discussed the difference between pitch and volume. Next children played the do-re-mi game to develop their understanding of changes in pitch.
