Wowzers! What an amazing day Year 1 have had, learning all about Shakespeare’s theatre, The Globe. First of all, children recapped on who Shakespeare was and his achievements, through a reading comprehension.
Then, children studied the structure of The Globe and its features. Children sat in a circle and experienced what it was like to be a groundling in the pit of the theatre, open to the elements and weather (through Mrs B and her plant sprayers). Children then got to smell the different scents which would have been in the air – children thought some smells were more pleasant than others! Finally, the children created factfiles and made their own models of The Globe.
